St Clare Street

This picture is of Chyanclare opposite the West Cornwall Hospital in and around the 1920's. The building on the right (Mannell's provisions) was pulled down and the circular building continued to form the St Clare post office. Today the shop in the centre is a popular dairy but the shop to the left was once a garage.
The shops were built to designs of F G Drewitt, in 1934; Chy an Clare. The work was for LtCol E H W Bolitho. Rose was the first person I fell in love with, I was ten at the time!!

If I remember correctly, in the early 40s, during the war, the circular shop to the left was called The Tyre Shop .
