Aha! This is how the battery area looked before redevelopment! Wonderful to find this pic randomly on the site. If you look through my albums - you will see information about what was in the corner, leading up to the memorial. Fish manure and coal yard, with a lime kiln in the midst. That is the reason for the colour of the stonework to that section of walling.
