Samuel Jenkins Pender (b1861, Bryher), brother of Joshua Pender.
Third son of Frederick William Pender and Elizabeth Trayer Jenkin.
After serving as carpenter on Tresco, he returned to Bryher where he became farmer and fisherman;
He was Constable and Overseer, in 1915 he represented Bryher on the Isles of Scilly Council.
In 1919 he was elected to Alderman until his death in 1930.
He was recorded as having 'sterling abilities and a sense of fair play'.
