Hugh Town 1860s

My gt gt grandfather Richard Thompson was a ship working carpenter.
My gt gt gt uncles Thomas Thompson (b1835) and John Rogers Thompson (b1843 of Carn Thomas) were Shipwrights.
Here is Town Beach, Hugh Town in the 1860s, with a row of shipbuilder's cottages along The Strand.
The beach was ideal for building ships.
From a Gibson photograph.
Note how far into town ships extended whilst being built.
