The lower goldfish pond in Morrab Gdns, 1977

Though still in place, much of the bamboos have been cleared since 1977. I once saw lightning strike and fell the old mulberry tree a bit further up on the right of the path past the bandstand. I happened to be running home in a storm after playing on the Prom. Frightened me to death, it did!
This is brilliant. The pool used to be full of life, stand and watch the carp for hours, dragon flies and damsel flies, brilliant green shining beetles. It was alive then. I do hope it is intended to allow this gem to grow again, but it is all to open and unprotected now to encourage the birds that used to fly through, and it surely cannot be warm enough for life in the pool. All too open now, for my liking. Thank you.

Brings back childhood memories, Sundays after sunday School or Chapel walking from Parade St. Chapel (now Acorn) down thro Morrab Gardens to the Prom. Always stopping to look at the goldfish. Glad someone like you took photos like this. Thanks.
