A painting by Stanhope Forbes, dated 1939, but shows the shop to the right as being much earlier. These were two cottages of c1720 which had been turned into shops; for some time, the last two cottages to the west of Penzance town. I remember Swans Tours and, in that shop they sold most things anyone could want, including oxygen. A severe boiler explosion occurred in 1963 making the cottages unsafe; they were demolished and the space taken over by Alfred Smiths in 1966.
