Go'an Up Lunnon

Train heading past The Mount, across The Green c1857; From a Besley print Drawing by G Townsend.

It must have been an immense adventure, the move from carriage and pair, even horse and wagon. The trip in a cramped stage coach, jumping and lurching over the extremely rough earth roads. Wheels digging deep into mud after a downpour.
All this changed to the noisy smelly coaches on metal tracks. They were already used to the free flow of air and rain through horse drawn carriages. Caw lummey mate, jus look a that.

Looks like Penzance's own 'Little Train' or 'Turistren' doing a circuit of Penzance and Marazion and back, only it is on a railway track and not moving along a road on air-filled tyres !

Yes and separate carriages. No tatty little oiks covered in sticky remnants banging and shouting in the corridors, crashing into your elbows. I like my personal stereo, but it all makes a complete mockery of the 'quiet coach' with what appears to be a gathering of the Clan McBuggeryoumatein the train.
Different times, Bet you could not get a sarny and a coke then on the train. :)
