Crowd in Penzance

Crowd in Penzance - same time and era as the Army pictures - can't quite tell where this is? But it is again in a Penzance envelope.
Curious, we have lost so much of our railing, it is hard to identify a place, but I am sure I can eventually do that. Note one of the gents is carrying a cello? or guitar? does not look like a guitar neck (inless he has his pasty in there as well).

If you need anything scanned at a higher resolution or to zoom in on parts please suggest and I ll be happy to help

It is not impossible for this to be the gents(and boys) called in by Kitchener to join the army, off to get kitted out. Though it appears a number are wearing what apprears to be Railway caps. I see no other instruments. The air I get from the lady on the right is one of apprehension.

Thanks for the offer on scanning - generally a picture of 1024 pixels wide is fine. I ll let you know if there is anything which would help to identify anything specific. Thank you

This is Chy an Dour Square taken from Cliff road corner looking towards Eastern Green. The building on the left is now Bay Lodge and the railings have been replaced by block and the railings on the right remain but covered by overgrowth.
