Princes Street - 03

The Banner upon the 1813 Warrant of the Lodge.
Formed originally in 1769, by members returned from Jamaica.
They were originally 'Star and Castle', as that is where they met, at the Star Inn and the Castle Inn.
In 1831, they moved into The Georgian Theatre, temporarily.
Photograph taken by kind permission of the Secretary of The Lodge,
also permission given to upload it to this site.
Well done treeve laugh# Also was this taken from behind glass? Clever bit of photography.

Because of its age, it is hung in a glass cabinet, with internal high globe lights and the great windows nearby, it was extremely difficult to get a really good picture.

Yeah I bet. I have a picture I have to for this site showing York house from the air taken back in the 40 s 50 s Fantastic shot, Heamoor is still a tiny village. I ll practice a bit more for now and try to get a clean shot of it for here soon.

By the Post Office. We have pictures here, I think. No, that was the Three Castles. I am hoping to get some more information on this soon. I have been informed that it was NOT the Ship and Castle of Chapel Street, as I was told before. This will all take a while to get it together.
