This is a fascinating image that shows an engine house in the location of Wherry Town Penzance. St Mary’s Church can be seen in the background and so can the Queens hotel and chambers.
Wherry Tin Mine commenced working 1838 but the engine house and outer buildings stood for many years.
I'm not sure, but I think they're Monterey Cypress Pine... they grow pretty fast.
I think the trees in the Mill photo might have been along the bank of the Larrigan River - it used to flow across pretty much the middle of the Rugby pitch, before being diverted in a loop and the ponds built.
I reckon that the photo at the top of the thread is the Serpentine Factory rather than Wherry Mine - as discussed on the Bath Cottages thread.
