Geir Built in 1962 under licence from Trumps as a Norwegian Nasty-class fast patrol boat, she was based in a fiord in Norway, one of 6 packs of 4 designed to search and destroy Russian nuclear submarines for NATO. Geir is 80.4 ft long, and had a fighting displacement of 70 tons, (equivalent to 80 tons full load, including 18 tons of fuel!!!!!). The vessel was originally fitted with twin Napier Deltic engines (familiar to railway enthusiasts). These monster pieces of machinery with their 18 cylinders and 36 pistons would produce a turbo charged 3100 bhp at 2100 rpm. This would enable the boat to power along at an amazing 60 mph.
