Woolworth December 11th 2008

What will go there now. It is rumoured that Iceland is planning to take the premises over and expand. But this is Penzance and we have more Chinese whispers than the Chinese.
Customers should be advised that the Police are watching these premises, and a riot van is parked at the ready on the site in front of Sir H, in MJS; two officers were observed standing poised at the ready in front of that vehicle at 4.30 on 18th December 2008, looking anxiously at the entrance of Woolworths; over a space of ten minutes, the Police crept closer to the premises, unobserved along the Terrace, then crossed the road, and in to the premises, whereupon they were seen to be walking along the shelves, looking carefully at the contents of objects on sale.

Today I had one of those cases as to just why shops suffer (following a recent one in Woolworths, when I was asking for something to keep my CDs in, when I was shown some rickety thing that presumably was lurking in a cornflake packet for years); One of the few luxuries I enjoy is to have capuccino with caramel syrup, a taste I have acquired for ten years or so. Having purchased some from Lidls last year, I thought .. must get some more ... no outlets in the town, believe it or not. There were three very helpful people in the town, in established traditional firms that I stick to because of their reliable and faultless service. In the end, I realised that the town could not sell me what I wanted, not made , never heard of it - so, I went home and ordered it from Amazon. Is it any wonder that shops lose out? I also, in passing, get sick of being asked are you alright there? and have a nice day ....

Spotted a Planning Permission notice in the window this morning, seeking permission for an illuminated sign, from Carpetright.

Roll Up ... see the Show ... piles of jobs coming ... ::15: Didn t they used to run the Ponderosa Ranch?

The other day I was asked are you alright there sir? , so I answered him truthfully - the glaze was not that of vaseline on the Gipsy Queen, it was over the eyes, decidedly. I suppose it has to be said that it is unusual to have an outlet of that type in town, rather than on the periphery of town. It would have the advantage of drawing in people to the town for other services, such as for restaurants.
Watch this space with interest? What about delivery of carpet bulk rolls? Or is it a warehouse catalogue shop with just samples on show?
Perhaps they could combine with one of the many many many mobile phone shops and becoma the Carpet Phone Caravan Warehouse Shop? ::15:

@HH, no.

Have just looked it up on PDC site.
