The Recreation Ground - Circa 1905

It is difficult to be sure as to whether the wall behind the swings is that on the Rosevean Tce side of the Rec today or adjacent to Coombe Road. Compare with my view of the Rec in 2008. There are houses among the trees on the road that leads to Heamoor. Are they what we see in the distance in this picture?
Smart picture .. never seen that one before ... lot of history here; this I suspect, is the wall between the Recreation Ground and the Play Ground, but I will pour over the 1908 map later to check it out.

1908 OS, now had a look at that, and I remember now, that Rosevean Terrace was not there in 1908; Neither was the Play Ground; There was no road past Rosevean House; that is an Estate stone wall (if only the talent to build these was still with us); Maybe this is looking towards Treneere manor, but I cannot tally the field layouts yet, I need to check levels and contours.

That wall is the lower wall of the field, which was removed and a slope built in when the road was extended. Just taken some pictures from here and matching in the landscape; I will post a map to show it all clearer. Posted two pictures taken from the hill around the skate board area, in the Dave Clarke bits n pieces gallery.

Lescudjack School was designed by Cowell, Drewitt and Wheatly in 1913 and the contract signed in the year; I have the complete building plans; if you were to turn 50 degrees to your right (in the photo) that would show you the school but it was not built then ::15:

I have a photograph taken a few days ago which might just help to clarify the angle of the background, but then it might not! I ll put it up now.
