St Helen's Oratory - Cape Cornwall

The cross atop this small alleged chapel building was ploughed up in a neighbouring field and removed to the Parish Church, St Just, but in recent times, recognised as an 'eaves' cross, it was mounted appropriately on this building and may have belonged to it originally. Also the St Helen among many different 'St Helens' referred to could be 'Elen' an ancient British princess. We may well never know the truth.
The stonework tells me that this little oratory (private chapel) has been re-built at least three times. To gain an idea of just what happened here, every single stone would have to be measured and assessed, including all stones buried in the field. A formidable task.
