Night blooming cereus

This cactus blooms at night in late May. The perfume is spectacular and smells like vanilla. By morning the blooms have died. This particular plant is in my garden
That looks amazing!, I know this will probably sound a stupid question, but are the catus prickly like ours over here? as those pictured don't look prickly .

The cactus which is on the far left of the photo is a different type of Night Blooming Cereus, it has triangular shaped stems and no spines. This one did not bloom until late last year and I do not have a photo of it. The cactus that is in bloom is very prickly and the spines are very difficult to extract once you get them in your fingers!
