Harbour 7

9th August 2009
Ooh, i was down there that day...missed the smashing time. I did see the JCB on the sand....should have hung around a bit longer...I went to the South Pier. Nice capture though.

This is down to straight finiancial problems. This is a National Historic vessel. She is 64 years old. This country has little resources for preserving historic vessels of any description - MFVs of this calibre even less. She costs to keep afloat, so in the end the decision has to be made. Myself I think it is horrendous to see such history being smashed, the lives that were spent working on her, the livelihoods it supported and the dangers faced. The engineering and craftsmanship far exceed the slam bang fibreglass pressings.
Search for four pictures of her (Roseland) on site; the first one has miniCMS details of her story.

A real shame probably due to the locals being robbed of thier livelyhood by rules laid down by the EU which seems to have such control
over the fishing industry...here in the US there are few wet fish counters in the markets there is packaged fish - farm raised in China that
I dont buy at all...

The problem here is that authorities do not take seriously any form of Listing Building or Historic Vessel description; only now the ONLY light vessel in the country still fully fitted, a National Historic Vessel of Dundee, is being sold off. Price of everything and value of nothing.
