this letter was sent out to terminate the requirement to be a member of the National Fire Service [Civil Defence].
The name is that of my aunt, May Pascoe, wife of Albert Pascoe.
You see, even a forces man away on action may come home to discover his wife has been injured or killed fighting fires.

It's a shame that more of these old papers were not kept
my Dad was the ARP warden for the Queen's Hotel I had
his papers for some time,he kept his badge in his waist-coat pocket - every time he took it out sure enough there
would be an alarm that night !!

I knew Ephemera as being the positions of the stars in the heavens, but it is now applied to the forms and cards of the War years. I even have the card pockets for the identity cards. Whatever my mother and aunt kept. It is hard work going through it all, with its emotional stuff, but I will put up what I can.
I am a hoarder, thanks to my upbringing.
