Queen's Hotel had expanded to take over the area of the Serpentine Works, creating shop outlets on the ground floor, a very shrewd move, at the time.
The beach reaches higher than at present.
I just adore those ladies' fashions and their wonderful hats; however, I suspect that it was none too comfortable in the heat, I will always remember the sound of a Sister bustling in full sail down the hospital ward, it must have been like that as these ladies walked by. Satin and taffeta, silk and organdie.
Just look at that push chair - it must have been quite innovative then. What a Genteel Age.
