The body of the pump. I clearly remember water issuing from the pulse valve at the bottom.
Can you explain just how these work; I seem to remember that they operate on a valve system that relies on incoming water pressure, or something like that? I saw some odd gadget on the garrison, that you may be able to identify?

I recall having the hydraulic ram explained to me in school. The kinetic energy of the water flow is used to raise some of the water passing through.

In my early years, we had to instruct that a ram was fitted to a system up Madron way , but never got the chance to ask; thanks - will have a look.

Wasn t there one at Trevaylor or is it my imagination? I distinctly remember the boomp, boomp, boomp sound they made. Duh! I just saw the picture that mentions Newmill and Trevaylor.
