The Water Seller

Mr William James Williams, known as Jim Tee, travelled through St Just, Botallack and Carnyorth selling fresh water from Nancherrow. His barrel held the equivalent of 5 'stans' (see my earlier posting in St Just and Pendeen album for an explanation of the standbarrow) which in turn was the equivalent of about 7 buckets of water.
He charged 6d for a barrel of water.
I have this from my mother's notes, I assume this was in the earlier part of the 20th Century. Mr Williams died in 1940.
Too much is taken for granted in this age. An expectation develops. The fact that life was hard added a state of grace to life, the power of waiting, of allowing the natural process, as it were, an appreciation of the work required, and a sense of value for the work done and the items supplied. Wonderful pictures.

Does anyone recognise this location? I think it must be St. Just churchtown but I can t place it.
