Lych Gate, Madron

Built 1902 as a Memorial to the men of the Boer War.
The Gate is in memory of Elizabeth Berryman 1929-1994.
10th March 2009.
The gate has already been vandalised by low-life, I cannot help wondering why they cannot write on paper or turn their talents to something more akin to their obvious
ability, like joining Gumby Demolition.
Now, that sounds like a very intelligent and heartwarming thing to do. ::6:

Several years ago I did a lot of work in the Church, A fascinating Church to work in, history everywhere you looked.

I heard tell, many years ago, that in order to light the gas heaters affixed to the pillars inside, the gas had to be switched on, then lighted matches hurled upwards in hope of igniting!

Elizabeth Berryman and her family embodied Madron for me. Lovely lady.

Interesting method of lighting a gas lamp in a timber roof? ::15:
So glad this brought back good memories ..
