Old fashioned detective work. Miraculously part of the wall picture in old photo is still there incorporated in the former iceworks and the photo was taken from what is now the gardens opposite entrance to the new middle pier.
Precisely the location that I was already considering, as I had worked out the picture had been taken from the row of cottages above the keel alley that was here before. I am glad that you have resolved this, that all makes sense and is a valuable contribution to the history of Newlyn.
Guess the rest of the wall is being bellow ground level , as its been filled in, although does continue round the front, remember as a kid the garden area still being flooded at high tide with small boats tied up. Any idea of a date Treeve?
I have placed two pictures of keel alley on site. It would be best to get a picture as now, from that row of cottages (sorry, cannot remember the name), just above where Ripple was re-built.
