Google Pictures Penzance!

The Google Street View car seen in Penzance on 28th May 2009 at about 3:30pm
Hmmm - I see, I would just as soon take a map and find out as I walk the streets and parks as I go, with all its revelations and surprises, most of the time I just follow intuition anyway, much more fun.

I think it s the modern way. Google is forward thinking and taken initiative to do more than any other search engine has done. They give back the power to the people. We hardly hear of the things other search engine get up to.
That said, it is an individual choice to use the service or not.

Whilst we are on the subject - and I am glad we have some opinions here; I am looking for a GPS (handheld) - most of them are equipped with software with maps, programmes for walkers, cyclists, mororists, and all the stuff that I do not need. I have a Garmin, but with all the menus, it takes ages to actually get a reading of where I am and its elevation above sea level; are there any whizzkids out there that can point me to a simple GPS that will tell me the basic facts, without giving me the navigation coordinates for getting home by sea or car?

I thought this might be a talking point! What do you think about the privacy issues this raises? Seeing as I did a quick U-turn on the Prom by Regent Tce and followed the car over Ross Bridge, around Branwells Mill, back over the bridge across the Prom as far as Lidden Road, I have no problems about this service and cannot wait to see my blurred out face following the car around! @treeve, check out Google Maps in London or Southampton and click and drag the little yellow man to the street to see how good this actually looks! ::6:

I have found Google to be the only search engine that works, provided it is fed with the right words and phrases (I have had some real doozeys of answers); I have found all manners of things, but I just cannot fathom a set of search criteria for what I want - I have been through the catalogues of so many companies online. I think that I have found one; I want it for some treks I am planning in the mountains later on in Scotland and The Lake District ... ::6:

Try googling the answer to life, the universe and everything without the quotes!
What is your price range treeve?

Privacy issues, perhaps a good point, but if we are all going about our daily business in an orderly manner, what is the problem; if you are pushing stash or hardware (the gun variety), or stealing cars, surely that is up to the police? It could be argued to get a life instead of stealing other people s I know. Maybe there is some young distressed child that has run away from home, maybe there is a bloke out with a partner in extra to his normal allocation.... The privacy issue itself comes in when the possibility that an unedited version becomes available to the authorities. Now, that is Big Brother without the Holding Company.
