Digitalis Purpurea or the Foxglove - 6th June, 2006

This snap was taken at Portheras Cove near Pendeen Watch in June, 2006. When we see these, we know that summer is just getting into its stride. Of course, these have provided us with a heart drug which has also been used as a poison. Funny! I used to lick the sweet end of the 'thimble' when I was young. Hope I wasn't unknowingly poisoning myself! I know bumble bees love to seek the pollen deep inside.
Oddly enough I ve never seen a fox wearing these florets as glove. I know that they do because my mother told me so, but I ve never met anyone who has witmnessed it.

Great set of photos. makes me want to go home for spring, a lovely time to be in Penwith ::15:
