Recent change in decor. Here you see the Choir Loft. I believe these are traditional, mediiaeval, ecclesiastical colours and echo those found in the Brompton Oratory, London but I need to check this out.
Brompton Oratory follows the pattern set down by St John Lateran and St Maria Maggiore in Rome, as being models of The Renaissance. I am unsure of the model for the organ, but it is more medaieval in its outlook of graphics and colour. The new interior is marred by the loss of the Haven, as I see it the Church of Rome represents the Care of the Sick and Needy in the teachings of the Son of God, and colourful ostentatiousness contradicts that. Grandeur and Roman Splendour has its place, but we are minded of the Samaritan in Luke 10 30-37. Good photographs it has to be said.
Thanks, Treeve! I certainly take your point. It is in the interpretation of care of the sick and the needy that the difficulty lies, as are the intentions of those who initiated the Haven. Why should the trustees of the Haven intend anything less? Life is never as simple as it appears. I find it difficult to imagine that the people involved have anything less than good intentions. Let no-one imagine that being a trustee is an easy job when emotions run high and misunderstandings are rife. I don't know the full facts. Do you?
