married my mother's sister
To me he was Uncle Bert.
He had an inpish sense of humour.
But suffered deafness as a result of action during the war.
It was then that I knew that deafness was not simply not being able to hear. It is far worse than that.
HMG fought tooth and nail not to pay 'benefits', as ever. Life was extremely hard for them.
6 Taroveor Terrace was their cosy little home.

Badly missed.
Times don't change, do they? Government still sending troops out to fight but not doing enough to provide for the wounded coming home. Meanwhile MOD pen pushers getting pay rises and compensation for 'accidents in the office'. Makes my blood boil.

Quite. One of the reasons I mention it. My uncle Basil only had hosptal 'time off', my father had endless letters and 'specialists', my uncle Dixie's ships were blown out the water seven times, but he was sent back to fight, I have some paperwork here. Tried to prove my uncle Bert's problem was there before the war.
