Sharpness is down to a few factors. Number of available pixels, for one. If the sensor is set to fine 4,032x2,688pixels [11.1Mp] are used on the Fuji Finepix S100fs; it also depends absolutely on the lens quality. Auto-focus is handy, but does have problems occasionally, do not just press the shutter release, it takes time to focus correctly. The Fuji Finepix HS10 is marginally better, but is only a 10Mp sensor. Another problem is stored 'noise' when in low light situations (or in shadow areas), it can effectively reduce sharpness. It is all one of life's choices.
