Yes I ll go along with that, but I think this and the Midsummer day photos were a little earlier than 1970. I could be wrong, but the blinds over the shop says Pearks and they had gone long before 1970.

I was in the same year at Carnyorth CP as Jean. I put 1970 as a round number but we would have been 17 then; I think most carnival queens were that sort of age or just a little younger. So it might have been late 1960s. I m only guessing. But that you for your interest and comments Diane.

I left St Just in 1970, and I just had the feeling that these carnival royalty happened before I left......then again, I didn t leave until December so it could have been 1970 carnival. Looking at these old photos [and the new ones] is great, so many memories etc. Perhaps it s time I made another trip home, it s been a few years since my last.

As I age I m lees good at judging the age of younger people. These appear to be teenagers so this might well have been taken any time from about 1966 onwards.
Not long till feastentide; make that trip and enjoy it!

Whoops! Sorry Diane, just realised how distant you are. It might take a little longer to make that trip. Still, if you do one day, I hope you enjoy it. St Just is much changed but still a lovely town and at the core still what it always was.

I do miss St Just Feast, I was a Feast baby, born on a Feast Saturday, so it always was a great celebration for me. Luckily here we have the Melbourne cup horse race on the first Tuesday in November, which is a huge event here, even though we re not in Melbourne. They call it the race that stops the country. When the children were little we always went to the Sunday school picnic on Melbourne Cup day, [it s a public holiday in Melbourne,] where we lived at the time. every thing stopped for the the cup, even the egg and spoon race I ve been home for 2 St Just Feast day in 38 years.
