UK-307 Jacoba.

UK is the port code for Urk in the Netherlands.
The Jacoba was built in 1975 by Scheepswerf van Laar
as the Simon Senior HD-30, then in 1983 became Elizabeth HD-96.
in 1995 she became Jacoba. She has fallen foul in recent years of the quota rulings.
Owned by Pasterkamp.

Saw a boat in Newlyn Harbour recently with the letters BT on it I think. We wondered if they might represent Belfast. With UK, I would never have guessed!

B is Belfast - not sure as to BT; could it have been BF (my own initials) Banff?

I did a short delivery trip on a Danish built wooden hulled Baltic Schooner. This vessel had once sailed cargoes around but the sails were gone by this time. The running joke on board was that wherever this vessel had sailed in the past there would always have been a following wind - on the stern was painted the port of registration - Middelfart.

Good one.... reminds me of the Japanese crisp manufacturers, searching for one of those names that sounded like a crisp being eaten ... CRAP!, they could not understand why it did not sell well in the 'West'.

I found a letter I had with some details of this old vessel. She was named after the original Danish builder/owner “N.E SCHMIDT” – later converted back to three masted sailing schooner to be used for holiday charters. Renamed “Jylland”.
Perhaps the port of registration was changed as well to suitably blend in with its holiday destinations.
