This float was the symbol for the whole point of the May Procession i.e. To honour the 'Mother of God', Mary, who it is believed was made our 'mother' also by Christ. Therefore Catholics ask her to intercede for us. Her strange and irrefutable apparitions at Lourdes, Fatima and Medugorje among others, are not the basis of the Catholic's faith but make one think.
