The buses are owned by enthusiasts, and there was a person in the back; the idea was that free rides were offered. These vehicles need to be used (use it or lose it).
If I remember rightly the body work was by 'Eastern Counties of Lowestoft they
were very well made and comfortable much better than the dead carts of today..
..I still have a PSV licence HH 18978 here somewhere from the early '50s a keepsake of yester-year....
something I notice in the picture is that the 'bus has a black steering
wheel the original vehicle would have had a white one denoting its
width (8 feet) black steering wheels were on vehicles of 7'6 in width.
I am going to be putting up some info when I get it together. Sounds to me as if the PSV Licence would be more than interesting. Any chance of a scan when you can?
We saw one of these coming back from Land's End today. I thought they had bitten the dust. We also saw one at Sennen. I noted it had writeen on the side, 'First Western National ' and the headquarters was shown as 'Queen Street, Exeter' which surprised me not knowing much about buses.
Only here for a few hours today, I placed the website here somewhere, bear with me, more info to come.
I missed the big single decker, unfortunately. http://www.cornwallbuspreservationgroup.co.uk/
