It is very very fragile and paper thin - I would agree with Treeve @ 1880-1890

They were normally printed in that way to be mounted on stiff card and set in a glazed frame.

I realize its very thin and very very fragile....just that I have NEVER seen any thing like this before so please excuse my first comment...in regards to the creases......
