Trepolpen and the Mermaid of Zennor bench end in Zennor Parish Church

A squire's son, Mathi Trewella, was seduced by a mermaid who hearing him singing in this church was so enraptured by his performance that she lured him along the river down to sea never to be seen again, though she herself has been known to appear in the locality from time to time. I believe a mermaid with mirror in one hand and the comb in another is said to be a mediaeval image of the Holy Trinity. I can't remember exactly why and I shall try to check this out. (By the way, excuse the short shorts!)
