I wonder if there are many snaps about of this pond in Penlee Park. I took it in march, 1977. Recently, it has been transformed and rather well, but it's hard not to feel a little nostalgic. It used to have newts in it and I don't mean that kind!
Transformed is not quite strong enough a word ... This used to be a quiet haven, sitting with the sun pouring across the water, trees and shrubs all around, and the sound of water pouring from the mouth of the Lion spout, and occasionally the rustle of leaves in the warm breeze. Now, I would not sit there if I was paid to do so. Open to the elements, staring at Health and Safety railings. Lovely photograph of a bygone era.
