The great viaduct at Hayle - 1

It was originally designed by Isambard Kingdom Brunel, friend of John Harvey.
The original was of timber, set on timber piles, built in 1851.
In 1884 it was re-built with the present granite piers, for the double track.
It is 841 feet long and 34 feet high. There are 37 spans.
