The lower levels were built as a berm in view of the fact that the lower levels were washed away. The way was used for bringing in the small vessels ... you can still see the old quay at low water level

I think you'll find that it's the key off my sardine can, Sparky. I was having a picnic in the shelter nearby: vodka, meths and paraffin: they go well with a bread roll and sardines!::10:
