On this terrible November day, do take a look at this set of Portheras in 1992. Old Cornish saying in the language goes: Y'n hav, porth kov gwav = In summer remember winter. I think it means 'be prepared!' It might well be said in reverse today: In winter remember summer! Denanmor's pictures of Lariggan say it all!
From holidaying here with the family I remember that overlooking the beach from the cliff on the left is a small flat grassy area, which could be accessed by climbing through gaps in the rocks. This had a local name as well – can’t remember.
We knew it as Greenbank.
There was an old chap used to sit up there for hours with his spy-glass. Supposedly watching ships; I couldn't possibly comment.
