Saturday saw the final stages of the Drift dam completed. Four St. Austell frogmen with aqualungs tightened the two0inch steel plate over the duct at the bottom of the dam wall. The work was supervised by Mr.P.Perse (dark jacket)the contractors' engineer. in the water channel with the frogmen. In addition to a fair-sized crowd of spectators watching the operation were five happy men when they finally saw the flag fly on the mast over the dam signifying mission accomplished and soon open for business. They are Messr. P. Perse, contractors' engineer, J.H.Blight (West Cornwall) water board engineer and manager, R.M.Ross (resident engineer for the project), H.Turney( chairman of the Board) and E.O.Wheale (Clerk to the West Cornwall Water Board) seen bottom left
