Penwith wild flowers 3

Whats its name?
I could be wrong but I think this is a mixture of heather (Calluna vulgaris ) and Heather-bell (Erica cinerea) but there could be some other heath (Erica sp) in there. I m not a botanist; I expect someone more knowledgeable will be along soon.

Well done...sounds very impressive....I m sure you are right...I myself haven t a clue...so well done to you!

I ve always known the central one simply as bell heather but there seems to be a good variety of heathers here. I wonder if Cornwall s national flower is there behind i.e. erica vagans or Cornish ling. By the way, I have been told that Cornwall is home to all six chief British heathers and is the only place in Britain of which this may be said.
