Came across these photos the other day, taken a while back now. Nancy and I were out for a walk one afternoon and came across this duckling, completely water logged and slowly sinking and what appeared to be its family swimming off into the distance. I put my hand down into the water and it struggled over and got into my palm. We took it home but neither the RSPCA or RSPB appeared to be that interested. So we decided to rear it ourselves and then try and figure out a long term solution. He eventually went to a farm where they kept chickens (and used to keep ducks) – but we made them promise he would not be eaten! He lived quite happily there and as he got older, he’d fly off during the day but would come back later for food and to sleep.
