Newlyn but when and where?

Newlyn but where? The card does not say.
Is this where the Methodist Chapel was constructed? (On site of cottages to the left)

I take it you mean Centenary, built 1927. There are a few pictures of the area.

The picture gives an impression of a street parallel to the sea. It looks too high up to have been part of the slum clearance that launched the Thames/London protest trip of the Rosebud, not that I really know what was cleared and what saved of Newlyn.

@ tpp. Just found the location of this scene. Stanhope Forbes depicted this street in his picture ' The Evening Hour '. It is described as looking downhill towards the top of Trewarveneth Street. The cottages which stood opposite were pulled down to make room for the building of the 'Prims' in 1927.

As for when, as previously mentioned the postdate may not give a precise date. However you can be sure it is before 1904.

A complete fluke tpp. I was looking for a different Forbes picture at the time and remembered your postcard when I saw 'The Evening Hour'. missp has aquired a print of 'The Duck Pond' by Forbes which I am trying to research.
