Marazion Station

What a fabulous railway station Marazion was. The station closed in 1965 because of the Beeching cuts

      Shame its gone... Lovely station
    • Planet Penwith
Yes a great shame. If it was there now, it would add to the feel of the area. Shame that the Pullman Carriages went too
    • Planet Penwith
I mean you know, why weren't the carriages saved and placed further down or somewhere to preserve them? How long had they resided there for?
    • Halfhidden
I think the carriages were eventually taken by a charity or trust and have since been restored. But as you'll remember they were used for living accommodation for many years and a squat near the end. I'll try and find out more on this ;)
    • Planet Penwith
Well I'm happy to hear they've been restored. I'd prefer them to be still here though :)

great old station. very busy in its heyday with flowers & brocolli going up country. and of course not forgetting the pullmans. i do believe that 1 or 2 of them were actually saved &restored. i am in the midst of building an oo guage layout of marazion station so some views very welcomed

@Halfhidden Yes a friend of mine lived there with his mother for a while before they became a squat.
