The problem is that Echo was a popular name for vessels (of all sizes and types). She may even have been the Echo that sunk off Portland in 1904. In any event, she is a coaster. I will need to determine her size from the photograph in relation to the harbour dimensions - how convenient she is warped in that fashion to be straight on in that way. When I can determine her length and approximate grt, I can relate to the Official Number lists, and then work out which one she could be; a clue is in her funnel marking and I can relate to my books on funnel markings of that date. At a start point I would say 1890 latest, but I will need to check on buildings - it will take a while. The plain fact is that she does not figure in MacRae and Waine at all, which points to the fact that she did not last long. This needs a bit of work.
