Do you think I should be off home now?

A quiet dabble?

A nice picture, Treeve. I saw the swans on the Prom today myself and thought to myself, 'Are swans changing their habits down here?' It was still pretty choppy but they were quite unabashed, weren't they? We had seven come daily to the Mount this season and they were fed by the boatmen. In fact, we even had a seemingly tame Canadian goose for a day or so that put up with humans feeding it and stroking it on the wharf.

Thanks ... I have not seen this behaviour until this last year, except the previous year when a handful took to Lariggan outfall. Newlyn river outfall was the place to feed for quite some time. It is the spread of growth of seaweed along the front, I think, that is encouraging them. I have never seen swans in flight across the Bay, least of all along the Promenade until this last year. Though their presence does not unduly bother the gulls, it will have an ousting effect; One group I am anxious over are the Purple Sanderlings with the vicious plans of the RP. I remember for many many years swans occupied the pool to the West of the railway bridge at Marazion. Interesting to see Nature gaining a new footing.
