Navy Inn is quite new (it is literally the worst place I have eaten in) ... I think it was Queen Inn about 1960, before that a house, certainly not a pub in 1936. Can t remember a Blacksmith there.
I have very few references on pubs, except for the actual old original ones. I have a vague recollection of my uncle saying that this used to be called The Queen, but the building was a plain house in 1936 plus.
Few pubs are run by locals anymore resulting in poor refreshments and service, not the Cornish way of things....I cant remember the last time I was in one
My fish was still raw, the mussels were cracked and half cooked, and the award winning chef glared at me because I complained. What happened to the customer is always right ?

I have just discovered this thread, which is pretty old now. I don't know whether the Navy Inn was ever known by another name during its long history, but I can vouch for it being a pub with that name as far back as the first decade of the 20th century. My grandfather, Matthew Eddy, was publican there from about 1903-1907 and my uncle Leonard Eddy was born there in 1905.
