Around 'Hutchens House' Summer 2010

missp loves this passion flower which is quite substantial for a two year old plant. There must have been at least sixty flowers open at the weekend.
Very nice indeed - do they smell nice? We haven't any plants in our small garden that you usually associate with night time scents (such as Jasmine), but I have noticed that when I've been outside on a still, balmy evening, I can 'smell' the garden a lot better.

They give off an amazing scent similar to jasmine in the evening. Although the flowers get visited during the day by insects (mainly bumble bees) there is a lot of moth activity during the late evening and night.

@CW, have had some lovely comments this morning from visitors to the village who spotted the Passion flower.

@ missp - I bet! It looks fantastic.
@ CW - Do tell what your 'Ivory Pillars' mystery pic are made of - I can't figure out what and it's bugging me! Painted over rusty pipes, perhaps?

@tt13, it is beautiful, we had to cut two foot off the bottom as it was getting difficult to get through the door. HH would have been ok::11:

Meant to comment on your reference to moth activity - unfortunately, moth activity seems to be on the decline here as our two youngest cats have been 'using them' to hone their hunting skills on ....

@ tt13. The 'Ivory Pillars' are the entrances to the cubicles at the bathing pool. I took the picture from the outside terrace of the cafe that over looks the pool and cropped out the balcony.

The passion flower is still in bloom with many more buds yet to open. It must have produced about 500/600 flowers this year.
