A Pier to The Mount

St Patrick's Day. 17th March 2009
I dedicate these pictures to the memory of a 19 year old boy,
who died because his parents cared so little about him that they
allowed him to take drugs and to drink.
He returned from a party in a car, on a wild night, and crashed into a bus.
He lay in the hospital for days, his brains bleeding through his nose
because of the pressure in his skull.
He died on this day; that is the reason that I am so bitter about
the waste of life, young lives, lives that deserve better.
What can one say, except a tragic waste of life, it seems to be the way our culture has developed, I have children that I hope have managed to grow thro it, but there are many like that young lad that haven t. I think it s good that he is remembered this way, and it will make people remember others gone the same way. Sorry to go on but I also feel strongly about this subject.

It was not only the young lad - the whole family disintigrated. Painful. I was young (I can remember it) and I had my wild moments, but never to the extent of degradation and immersion in drugs and alcohol, the diversion to apelike roots, loss of dignity, etc .. I get really bitter. No one said life was easy. We have to make of it what we can - and by that I do not mean in financial terms. We have to actually work for it. To pander to a youngster in his wild moments to actually pay for drugs and drink, and laugh about it. What a waste.

I agree, and the people left behind, friends and family suffer to a degree for the rest of their lives.
