A Familiar Scene

The Fountain Tavern Penzance. Date unknown.
The 'Pig Market' is on the left, I used to catch the bus there when I was a kid. They still had pigs there then and I remember the men hosing down the pavement/

When my mother was a girl she and my grandparents lived in the the little row of cottages which runs off to the right behind the hoarding and adjacent to the Fountain Tavern. I think it was called 'Chapel Row'? Many, many years ago there used to be a water cistern of some sort in the yard behind the hoarding, I've seen pictures of it with a rowing boat, hence the name 'Fountain Tavern'.
