Snow and freezing temperatures have hit parts of Cornwall overnight.
The Highways Agency said that gritters had been to the A38 and A30 overnight and teams were continuing to patrol and grit main roads.
Cornwall Council said its winter maintenance plans had been put into place, but that no response protocols had been triggered.
Snow started falling just after 0500 GMT in mid-Cornwall with Penwithick, Bugle and Roche affected.
Alison Sixsmith from the Highways Agency said: "It's been a very busy night all of our gritters have been out overnight, all of our the routes have been gritted once, many have been done three times.
"All the gritters are out patrolling and just gritting where they need to at the moment.
"It looks like this is set to continue for the next few days and possibly get worse; that's something we'll review as we get the next up-to-date forecast."
Head of emergency management at the council Richard Fedorowicz said: "The planned winter maintenance will be put into place.
"Certainly the conditions haven't triggered anyone of our response protocols."
Mr Fedorowicz said that teams at the council were putting together plans after learning from the severe weather conditions which occurred in January.
He also said that the council had set up a dedicated snow webpage with information for residents on it.
