Robbery by a Penzance Policeman.
On Sunday morning 19th December 1869, at Penzance, John Semmens, a police-constable to the Penzance Force, was detected in the act of stealing a quantity of flour from the premises of Mr. John Coulson, at Alverton. Large quantities of poultry have been missed from these premises lately, and it was thought it was the work of a fox, but the animal now caught has turned out to be quite of a different species from what was expected, a " two-legged fox." Prisoner was brought before the mayor (Mr. B. N. Downing)
